Description

Our Ukrainian friend called this Soviet military base ‘Rocket Division 9’. It was 30km from Khmelnytsky and hidden deep in a forest. Even the local villagers didn’t know it existed. We walked 2km through the forest to arrive at this military base where there were once 5 nuclear missiles always pointed to the West. It is thought that there were once 1000 warheads stored here. Much of the base was destroyed by the Soviets when they left but you can still find gems like this Soviet artwork.

Julia visited this abandoned Soviet military base in 2010 during the Abandoned? Project journey.
